Invitation for a Quantitative Medicine & Physiology Working Group member to give a talk as a part of an SMB mini-symposium
The Society for Mathematical Biology Annual Meeting-2025 will be held during July 13-18, 2025 in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada.
Prof. Wenrui Hao (from Pennsylvania State University) and Kang-Ling Liao are organizing a mini-symposium entitled: Data-driven modeling in biology and medicine, for the subgroup “Methods for Biological Modeling”.
From Kang-Ling Liao: We still have one spot for our section, so we would like to invite some postdoc or PhD student to give a talk in our mini-symposium. Each talk is 25 minutes with 5 minutes question. Participants will be allowed to give a maximum of two talks (including contributed talks) at the conference, however, the two talks must be in different areas of math biology (the standard exception for education talks still applies). Please visit the conference website for detailed information at https://2025.smb.org/
The conference does not waive the registration fee for mini-symposium organizers and speakers, or reimburse their expenses.
Please reply to kang-ling.liao@umanitoba.ca by January 13th if interested.

PIMS Courses
Please note that, in some cases, registration deadlines may be up to six weeks in advance of the course start date for the PIMS Math Courses. The 2 courses currently offered are:
- Advanced studies in Theoretical and Computational Biology (Anotida Madzvamuse, UBC – am823@math.ubc.ca)
- Mathematical Ecology – Nonlinear PDE Models ( Rebecca Tyson, UBCO – rebecca.tyson@ubc.ca)
We encourage students to check the details of courses they are interested in and contact the course instructors as soon as possible.
