RESEARCH ACCELERATOR OVERVIEW

Each year, the Maud Menten Institute (MMI) offers a handful of HQP Research Collaboration Accelerators to qualifying MMI members, to help support HQPs engaged in collaborative work.

A total of nine HQP Research Collaboration Accelerator Supplements are available for the 2026/2027 fiscal year.

Each accelerator unit has a value of $5,000.

The purpose of the $5K accelerator is to help with costs associated with interdisciplinary/multidisciplinary research collaboration involving MMI HQP between multiple PIMS sites or with non-academic organizations such as government, industry and NGOs. 

These costs are meant for travel, accommodation and salary associated with collaborative research. To be eligible you must be a graduate student or postdoc who is an MMI member at a Canadian PIMS university and commit to submitting a 1-page report on how the funds helped with your collaborative research.

• involved in collaborative work between multiple sites or with non-academic organizations

DETAILS

• Each accelerator unit has a value of 5K.
• Funds would be used for costs associated with research and collaboration.  These costs are meant for travel, accommodation and salary associated with collaborative research.   They do not include money for TAing.
• The supervisors would apply for the accelerator(s) in conjunction with the HQP.
• It is expected that HQP supported with the accelerators will also be fully engaged in the MMI, including attendance at the yearly summits and involved with any appropriate working groups.
• Recipients will be expected to report (in December & April) on how the money was spent.
